No MH-CET from 2014, Maharashtra state will accepts JEE Main for engineering admission

Reportedly Maharashtra state has accepted new JEE format proposed by HRD ministry, the admissions to engineering courses in Maharashtra would take place through the national-level Joint Entrance Examination from the academic year 2014-15.

The state cabinet today decided that Maharashtra would be a part of the new admission pattern. The standard 12th curriculum will be upgraded in 2013 to bring it up to the standard of JEE, the cabinet decided at the meeting chaired by Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan. For the admission purpose, scores of both the entrance exam and the std 12th exam would be considered.

State officials said the advantage of becoming a part of JEE admission system was that students would have to take only one entrance exam, which would suffice for IITs too. This would particularly help the students from rural areas, officials added.
