To Provide the requisite quality & quantity of trained man power at different level, Govt. of India set up the National Institute of Foundry and Forge Technology (NIFFT) in the year 1966 in collaboration with UNDP-USESCO. NIFFT is registered as Society under the Societies Registration Act of 1860. The management of the Institute is vested with Board of Governors with Chairman at its apex and members representing Govt. of India (Ministry of HRD & industry), AICTE, Private and Public enterprises, technical and R & D organizations.

Placement at NIFFT
The Institute attempts to arrange campus interviews and helps students to find suitable employment through tits Industrial services section for the passing out students after completion of the course. The students would have wide scope of employment in all engineering, foundry, forge, metallurgical, automobile, electrical, aeronautic, aerospace, ship building, railways, mining defence and other industries after passing out this course.
Facilities at NIFFT
The NIFFT campus is located on NH-75 around 7.2 km from Ranchi. It is around 2.2 km from Hatia Railway station. Also the campus around 6.4 km from Birsa Munda Airport making it easily accessible via Rail as well as Airways.
The NIFFT campus is spread over an area of 65 acres.It houses the administrative building, academic buildings and halls of residence for students. The faculty residential area, grounds, library, auditorium, laboratories and workshops are other areas on its well maintained campus.
NIFFT has 5 boys hostels and 1 girls hostel to accommodate its students for B.Tech and M.Tech courses.Each hostel has sports facilities like TT tables, carrom boards and Volleyball courts apart from the common college facilities. The hostels also have Student’s Mess and canteen nearby.
The college provides excellent sporting facilities to its students for their all-round development.These include :

The institute houses laboratories such as Sand Laboratory, Metallography Laboratory, Flexible Manufacturing System (FMS) Laboratory, Non-Destructive and Mechanical Testing Laboratories, Spectroscopy Laboratory, Environmental Monitoring and Pollution Control Laboratory, Metrology Laboratory, and a Forging Laboratory.
