Reportedly Gujarat state will now follow CBSE pattern for class XI and XII science stream to reduce stress on students. State has divided the Class XI and XII exams into four semesters and 75 per cent of these examinations are based on the objective format. Final result will be based on average of all the four semesters rather than final board exam of Class XII. First and third semester entirely objective and 50 per cent questions in second and fourth will be objective.

With introduction of percentile ranking no student will fail in class XI. On basis of their percentile students will be eligible to take admissions in engineering and medical colleges.

“These changes have been implemented keeping in mind the national level entrance examinations (JEE main and NEET) for engineering and medical institutes. This will also reduce difference between Class XII state board and entrance examination results,” Principal Secretary Education Hasmukh Adhia said.

Class XII examinations this year will be 50% objective type. Students of class XII in Gujarat board will appear for 3rd semester from October 25 onwards and last semester will be held in 3rd week of March 2013.
