As per MHRD notification JEE 2013 would be held in two parts – JEE Main and JEE Advanced. To conduct JEE Main, the ministry has constituted a board ‘JEE Apex’.
Chairman of JEE Apex Board – Ashok Mishra, former director, IIT-Mumbai
Members of JEE Apex include :-
- Chairman of CBSE board,
- Representatives from AICTE,
- HRD ministry and state representatives, where IITs are situated
Around 15 lakh students are expected to appear for JEE Main. The forms of JEE (Joint Entrance Exam) Mains 2013 examinations, recommend for admissions in IIT, IIIT and NIT, can be filled from September 28 onwards. The proposal on the same has been sent to the Joint Apex Board (JAB). A meeting to be held next week in Delhi may approve the proposal. The board may even decide on the form distribution & retail and date of submission.
Reportedly Central board of secondary education (CBSE) will assist Joint apex board in conducting JEE Main 2013. All the preparations are on the go and a website is underway for online filling of forms.
Top 1.5 lakh candidates, including all categories, from the JEE-Main exam will be eligible to appear for the JEE-Advanced. The data of 1.5 lakh students who will barge through JEE Mains will be provided to IIT-Delhi. This data will be made from the top 20 percent students of 44 boards from all over India, which will be used for conducting JEE Advance.
Reportedly JEE Main and JEE Advanced will be held on 7th April and 2nd June respectively.
