Q1. JEE Main 2014 examination
CBSE will conduct jee main 2014 for admission to the undergraduate programmes in NITs, SFTIs and CFTIs.
- NIT – National institute of technology
- SFTI – State funded institute of technology
- CFTI – Centrally funded institute of technology
JEE Main 2014 will also serve as an eligibility test for IIT entrance examination – JEE Advanced 2014.
Only the top 150000 candidates based on performance in JEE MAIN will qualify to appear in the JEE ADVANCED examination.
Admission to NITs/CFTIs/SFTIs will be based on 40% weightage for performance in Class XII board/ equivalent examination marks (normalized) and the remainder 60% weightage would be given to performance in JEE Main and a combined All India Rank (AIR) would be decided accordingly.
Q2. What will be admission criteria for NITs, IIITs and other CFTIs?
Admission to NITs will be based on 40% weightage for total marks obtained in Class XII board/ equivalent exam (normalized) and 60 % weightage to performance in JEE Main. A combined All India Rank (AIR) would be decided accordingly. The policy could also be adopted by other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs) and participating Institutions.

Q4. What will be medium of examinations of JEE-MAIN 2014?
Hindi and English.
CBSE will also conduct JEE Main 2014 in the Regional Languages of the State(s) on the requests of such State(s) who are participating in JEE(Main) for their State Engineering Colleges/ Universities. However, JEE-ADVANCED will be conducted in English/Hindi medium only.

You can appear for improvement in 2 or 3 subjects but cbse will consider your improved marks for jee main 2014 rank only if you appear for improvement in all 5 subjects or they will consider your previous year marks only

Q12. Will there be negative marking in JEE-Main exam 2014?
YES. There will be objective type questions with four options having single correct answer. For each incorrect response, one-fourth (1/4) of the total marks allotted to the question would be deducted. No deduction from the total score will, however, be made if no response is indicated for an item in the answer sheet.

JEE-Main – Offline Exam – Tentatively JEE Main 2014 examination will commence on 6th April 2014.
Online Exam – Between 6th April to 30th April 2014
JEE-Advanced – will be held on 25th May 2014. There will not be any online exam for JEE-Advanced.

There will not be any physical sale of forms. The forms will be filled up ‘Online’ only. The forms will be available from 1st November 2013.

Use of electronic devices like mobile phone, calculator, iPod, etc. is NOT PERMITTED in JEE (Main) 2013. In addition, materials like log table, book, notebook, etc. should NOT be brought into the examination hall.
Q.18 What are the reservation rules for JEE-Main Exam 2014?
As per Government of India rules candidates belonging to certain categories are admitted to seats reserved for them based on relaxed criteria.
These categories are:
- Other Backward Classes (OBC) if they belong to Non-Creamy Layer (NCL)
- Scheduled Castes (SC)
- Scheduled Tribes (ST)
- Persons with Physical Disability (PD)
- Benefit of reservation shall be given only to those classes/castes/tribes which are in the respective central list published by the Govt of India.
Q.19 What is state code of eligibility ?
- State Code of eligibility means the Code of the State from where a candidate has passed +2 examination by virtue of which he/she becomes eligible to appear in the JEE-Main for admission to B.E/B.Tech and B.Arch/B. Planning Courses of the institutions/ Colleges of the States/UT.
- Indian nationals passing the equivalent qualifying examination from any institution abroad, the State of Eligibility will be determined on the basis of permanent address given in the Passport of the candidate.
