In the year $1973 - 74$ , there was a significant increase in the primary sector whereas in the year $2013 - 14$ the tertiary sector has developed the most. There was a drastic shift from the production sector to the sector which is responsible for delivering all the services. Hence, the tertiary sector gained momentum in the last $40$ years.

The tertiary sector has shown growth from the last $40$ years as compared to the other two sectors of the economy. The growth in the tertiary sector is due to the utilisation of the human as a resource. India has invested in education, health, information and technology, banking, communication, transport, and other services provided by the service sector. This is how the tertiary sector has utilised the skill of humans in order to make other resources fully functional and thus, a large population of India is considered as an asset rather than a liability.
