HPCET 2022 Eligibility Criteria: Detailed Information
All candidates who wish to appear in the HPCET entrance exam have to meet the below-mentioned criteria to be considered eligible for HPCET 2022:
Educational Qualification – Those candidates who are willing to apply for HPCET 2022 must have appeared and passed in class 12th examination with Mathematics and Physics and any one of the following subjects (Chemistry or Technical Vocational subject) from a recognised University/Board by the Government of India.
Minimum Marks – Candidates who have secured 45 percent marks in class 12th in the prescribed subjects will be eligible to fill the online form of B.Tech. However, candidates in the reserved category will have to obtain 40 percent marks in class 12th.
Admission Criteria – Himachal Pradesh Technical University (HPTU) offers admission to aspiring candidates based on the entrance test and JEE Main scores (scores of national level entrance test). Also, even after admission through JEE Mains and entrance test, the seats remain vacant, then the exam conducting body will fill the vacant seats based on candidates’ performance in the class 12 exam.
HPCET Eligibility Criteria for Admission Through JEE Main 2022
The first 50 percent of seats are filled based on rank/marks secured in JEE Mains by the candidates.
Candidates with valid JEE Mains scores will only be eligible for HPCET 2022.
Those who are applying through JEE Mains score need not appear for the HPCET B.Tech entrance test
Also, such candidates will have to fulfil the HPCET 2022 eligibility criteria based on educational qualifications and minimum marks.
Eligibility Criteria for HPCET Entrance Exam
The 50 percent of seats remaining vacant will be filled based on marks secured in the HPCET entrance exam.

HPCET Eligibility Criteria for Individual Degree Programmes
Candidates can look through the eligibility criteria for different undergraduate programmes offered through HPCET to find out if they are eligible for admission into their desired courses.
Candidates should have appeared or have passed their Class 10+2 or an equivalent exam from a recognized Board or university.
They should have Physics and Mathematics as their compulsory subjects. For the third subject, they should have either Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biology or Technical Vocational subject.
Candidates should have secured at least 45% marks in the aforementioned subjects. Candidates belonging to the reserved category should score a minimum of 40% marks.
Candidates seeking a direct entry in B.Tech should have passed or appeared for their 10+2 examination with Physics/ Mathematics / Chemistry/ Agriculture/ Computer Science/Information Technology/ Electronics/ Biology/ Informatics Practices/ Biotechnology/ Technical Vocational subject/ Engineering Graphics/ Business Studies/Entrepreneurship.
They should have obtained a minimum of 45% mark in the above subjects taken altogether. Candidates belonging to the reserved category need to secure a minimum of 40% marks instead of 45%. OR, the candidates should be diploma holders in Engineering and Technology, and they should have secured at least 45% marks (40% for candidates belonging to the reserved category). This is subject to vacancies available in the first year if the lateral entry vacancies have been exhausted.
Candidates should score at least 50% marks in aggregate in their 10+2 or an equivalent exam (45% in case of candidates belonging to the reserved categories)
They should have Mathematics as a mandatory subject whether they have passed 10+3 diploma or 10+2 level or an equivalent exam.
Candidates should have passed or appeared in 10+2 or an equivalent exam from a recognized Board or University.
They should have had Physics and Chemistry as their compulsory subjects along with any one of the following as a third subject – Mathematics/ Biology.
They must have secured a minimum of 45% marks in the above-mentioned subjects taken together. Candidates belonging to the reserved category need to secure a minimum of 40% marks.
Candidates applying should have completed 17 years of age on or before December 31 of the admission year.
Candidates should have passed their 10+2 or an equivalent exam in any stream from a recognised Board under the Central or the State Government.
They should have secured a minimum of 50% marks (45% for candidates belonging to the reserved category) in their qualifying exams.
HPCET Eligibility Criteria 2022: Important Points
If a candidate is found not eligible at any later stage, then their candidature will be rejected without prior notice.
Candidates who have applied for HPCET B.Tech under the reserved category will be required to submit necessary original certificates along with photocopies at the time of counselling as well as admission.

The authorities released the HPCET application form on April 21, 2022. Candidates are advised to fill up the application form well ahead of the last date as per the information available in their valid documents. The documents must be uploaded as per the accepted guidelines. They will have to pay an application fee for their preferred course as a part of their application submission.
