KCET Counselling 2020: Check Schedule, Registration Procedure & Seat Allotment

KCET Counselling 2020

KCET Counselling 2020: The Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA), has conducted the Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET) 2020 on 30th and 31st July 2020. KEA will conduct KCET counselling in online mode in the month of October 2020. KCET counselling is the process wherein candidates who clear the KCET exam are allotted seats in various engineering colleges all across the state of Karnataka. The allotment of seats is based on the rank of the candidates in KCET, their preferences of colleges and courses, and availability of seats.

The KCET counselling process consists of document verification, filling of choices, seat allotment, and reporting at institutes. The authorities will conduct two rounds of KCET 2020 counselling along with a second extended round and special round. Seat allotment will be done on the basis of KCET merit, preferences, and availability of seats. Candidates must have proper knowledge of the KCET counselling process so that they don’t face any difficulty. For this reason, we are providing you with this detailed article on KCET counselling 2020. Read on to find out.

Stages Of KCET Counselling 2020

As you can see in the KCET schedule given above, the KCET counselling involves mainly the following four stages:

1st Stage: Registration & Document Verification
2nd Stage: Choice Filling & Locking
3rd Stage: Seat Allotment
4th Stage: Reporting to Allotted Colleges for Admission

Let us look into each of these stages in details.

KCET Counselling 2020: Registration & Document Verification

The first stage of KCET counselling process will be conducted in the online mode. Selected candidates will have to first get their documents verified. Upon successful verification of documents, the KEA authorities will provide the candidate with a verification slip, a unique User ID and Password.

Candidates must carry the following documents to the counselling centre for verification:

  1. Copy of KCET application form
  2. KCET admit card
  3. Proof of payment of KCET application fees
  4. Marks card of Class 10 board exams
  5. Marks card of Class 12 board exams
  6. Study Certificate countersigned by the concerned BEO/DDPI
  7. 2-3 copies of your recent passport size photograph
  8. Category certificate if applicable

KCET Counselling 2020: Choice Filling & Locking

In this stage, candidates will have to log in to their account using the User ID and Password given by the authorities at the time of Document Verification. They will be able to see the seat matrix, i.e. the branch-wise and category-wise availability of seats in various colleges. Candidates will have to fill up their choices and lock them before the last day.

Candidates shouldn’t fill up the choices randomly. Being aware of the KCET cutoff/closing rank of the previous year for a particular branch at a particular college can help in making the right decision.

KCET Counselling 2020: KCET Seat Allotment

First, KEA will conduct a round of mock seat allotment. This is done so that candidates get an idea about the counselling process. Candidates will be given the chance to modify their choices after the mock seat allotment is over. After that, the final allotment of seats will be conducted. This is based entirely on the rank of the candidates, their preferences, and the availability of seats. The authorities will give an allotment letter to the candidates.

KCET Counselling 2020: Reporting To The Allotted College

The last stage of the counselling process involves visiting the allotted college with all the necessary documents and the allotment letter. Candidates also need to pay the fee at the college to confirm the allotment and secure admission. Candidates must remember that they need to keep an eye on the KEA official website throughout the process to stay updated about any new developments.

KCET 2021 Preparation

So, now you know everything about KCET 2020 counselling. As you can see, clearing the KCET cutoff alone is not enough to secure admission to UG engineering courses. There are multiple factors that play roles in the seat allotment and admission process. The only way to ensure one gets admission to their desired course in their dream college is by securing a high score in the exam. This is possible with an extremely smart preparation plan.

So, if you are planning to appear for KCET 2021 exam, focus on your KCET preparation and make the best use of the remaining time. Do not skip any topic included in the KCET syllabus. Solve a sufficient number of KCET practice questions and take KCET mock tests as well.

As the KCET syllabus and JEE Main syllabus are almost the same, candidates can solve JEE Main Practice Questions and it will help them in KCET as well. They should also take KCET mock tests. These are available for free at Embibe. Detailed feedback on your tests is also available. But you have to unlock the Advanced Feedback Analysis for that. This feedback will help you improve on your weaknesses and score higher in the exam.
