When inhaled, it combines with haemoglobin and reduces its oxygen-carrying capacity.

The chlorofluorocarbon causes the ozone layer depletion. Effect on health: Contamination of petroleum causes an adverse effect on the genetic health, immune system, and endocrine system. Some of these hydrocarbons are toxic, with the potential to cau se cancer.
