The froath flotation method is widely used for the concentration of sulphide ore such as zinc sulphide, Copper pyrites and galena. It is based on the fact that the surface of sulphide Ore is preferentially wetted by oils while that of gangue is preferentially wetted by water. The labelled diagram is: Zone refining is a very useful method to get metals with very high purity such as silicon and germanium. Zone refining refers to the method of purifying a crystal wherein a thin region of the crystal undergoes melting. The principle of zone refining is that the impurities in an ingot or ore of metal are more soluble in the melt state when compared to the corresponding solid state of the impurities. Chromatography is the technique for the separation, purification, and testing of compounds. Chromatography is a separation method where the analyte is combined within a liquid or gaseous mobile phase., which is pumped through a stationary phase. Usually one phase is hydrophilic and the other lipophilic.

Calcination Roasting It is the process of heating the ore in absence of air to remove volatile impurities. It is the process in which the ore is heated below its melting point in presence of air to oxidise the impurities.
