What do you mean by coherent sources?

Two sources of waves are called coherent if the phase difference between them is constant, i.e. independent of time and waves have the same frequency. Waves coming from two independent sources can not be coherent. Two real or virtual sources produced by the single source are coherent. When the waves are coherent, then only interference occurs.
