Sun is the primary source of heat and light on the earth. It maintains the temperature of the earth which is necessary for life on the earth to exists. Sun is the main source of energy for all living things on the earth. If the sun did not rise, plants won't be able to prepare their food. Plants need sunlight, oxygen, and water to prepare their food. All animals and humans depend directly or indirectly on the plants for their food. So, if it happens for a longer period of time we would die as plants (initiators of the food chain) produce their food in the presence of sunlight.

Sun illuminates the earth. When the light rays from the sun fall on the dust and tiny particles present in the air, they get scattered in all direction. This scattering of sunlight illuminates all the objects present on the earth. Nowadays we are using solar energy to harness different forms of energy like electrical energy.
