After exploring a deeply functional organisational structure in engineering, we are now evolving towards a problem-solving team structure that manifests at the platform and backend level as an agile team supporting a unified front-end and augmented by a strong Architect + Principal Engineer + Advisory group for technical mentoring. This document outlines the problem statement and other aspects of the Engineering Management Group.

THE PROBLEM STATEMENT

We want to meet steep deadlines with tight control on execution, transparent communication and detail-orientedness. We must be able to provide all stakeholders with a proper explanation of where we stand, where we will stand at any point in time, and should be able to mitigate any risks to the timeline due to unforeseen circumstances.

THE OBJECTIVES

  • To inherit timelines for the success of the business
  • To prioritise, execute and mitigate risks for the project and teams daily
  • To keep all stakeholders and the CEO always informed on decisions, change management and story points covered
  • To take signoff from the CEO for business, engineering and product decisions or requirements
  • To motivate, empower and nurture teams to become effective at communication, time management and reporting
  • To be highly available to support team and business stakeholders
  • To be responsive and responsible for creating and curating requirements on JIRA from Calls, Flock, Whatsapp and Email
  • To effectively plan and run sprints following Embibe’s agile way
  • To maintain a KANBAN Jira board for all engineering management tasks given by the CEO or business stakeholders
