Vasoconstriction means narrowing of the blood vessels which reduces the volume or space inside the affected blood vessels and hence the blood vessel volume is lowered, blood flow is also reduced. At the same time, the resistance or force of blood flow is also raised. This causes higher blood pressure. This process is essential for maintaining body temperature in homeotherms.

Meissner corpuscles consist of a cutaneous nerve ending responsible for transmitting the sensations of touch. Meissner corpuscles are most sensitive to low-frequency vibrations between 10 to 50 Hertz and can respond to skin indentations of less than 10 micrometres.
