Preparation Tips

Create a Planner

  • Create a weekly planner and stick to it.
  • Ensure that you allocate equal time to all four sections.
  • It may seem tedious, but it really helps to establish a routine during the preparation phase.
  • It is vital to know what is covered and what more is left to cover in the available time.
  • Try not to avoid or deviate from the plan you have made.

Make Notes

  • Making notes while studying is proven to be helpful in remembering topics in the long run.
  • Using colourful flashcards makes the process more efficient.
  • These also help during the revision of the topics.
  • Recalling and reconnecting the learnt topics is easier done with hand-made notes.

Find Problem Solving Techniques

  • Using sample papers and mock tests to prepare for the IIFT examination is tested and tried to increase the candidates' efficiency.
  • Such practice also provides an insight into the different types of questions expected in the IIFT examination question paper.
  • You can take help from the internet to learn the different methods to solve a specific type of problem.
  • Solving an increasing number of questions will also help find innovative and quick ways to solve a problem in order to improve speed and efficiency.

Stay Motivated

  • As the IIFT preparation requires regular and continuous effort, staying motivated is important and not losing sight of the bigger picture.
  • Try and surround yourself with like-minded people who are there to support your efforts and time.
  • You can also try to reach out to IIFT students and seek tips and tricks for the preparation.
  • Learn new and multiple methods to solve the different types of problems.
  • Although the preparation requires continuous effort, ensure that you take breaks frequently.
  • This helps you to stay healthy in mind and body and focus better on reaching the goal.

Detailed Study plan

The IIFT candidates must plan their preparation in such a way that all the sections are covered within the given time frame, and there is ample time for revision too. Here are a few suggestions for studying section-wise for the IIFT exam.

  • Read Manorama’s Yearbook on a daily basis.
  • Rad through the daily newspaper and stay updated with the current events.
  • Focus on India's business and trade policies with other countries.

  • To improve on the dynamic part of the current affairs section, keep yourself updated on the day-to-day events in the country.

Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning

  • Read regularly and increase your reading speed because the questions in this section are long and will be time-consuming.
  • Practice more using previous year's question papers and sample papers to get an idea of the type of questions asked in the IIFT question paper.

Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension

  • Make it a habit to read every day.
  • This helps improve your vocabulary.
  • Learn new words daily and ensure to use them in sentences or as a part of your daily conversation to help retain the newly learnt words.
  • Get your hands on some quality study materials.
  • Frequently attempt IIFT mock tests to increase your speed and accuracy.
