Job Description

  • Taking care of day-to-day operations: In a scheduled commercial bank, this position is similar to that of an assistant manager. As a Scale I officer in any RRB, you are responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the branch where you are assigned. Every day in the branch, you must keep track of receipts, payments, cash verification, and the passage of checks, among other things.
  • Disbursement of loans: This is the second task that you must complete as an officer. HoweverScale-II, unlike a scheduled commercial bank, the emphasis will be mostly on the country's agricultural and rural economies. More agriculture loans, as well as loans to linked sectors/activities like poultry, dairy, and fisheries, are needed.
  • RRB officers are primarily responsible for overseeing the rural segment and ensuring that his or her branch follows the priority sector criteria.
  • Monitoring credit portfolio: You must exercise caution in this capacity because most farm loans and loans to related activities quickly become NPAs (non-performing assets) if they are not carefully monitored. You must visit the borrower on a daily basis if repayment is not on time, and you must comprehend the borrower's condition before deciding on your next line of action.
  • Restructuring loans and recovering non-performing assets: This is the most crucial position in your portfolio. RRBs were conceived as part of the country's rural development plan. In this portfolio, you must restructure the agricultural loans and maintain track of the subsidies.
  • Creating audit reports: This role requires you to help the branch manager. There have been numerous cases of fraud in these banks, and if these inconsistencies are discovered during an audit, you may face disciplinary action for failing to perform your duties.
  • Organising loan melas in locations where you work: As an RRB officer, you are responsible for participating in your area's financial inclusion drive. You must notify the public about your bank's numerous initiatives and release loans to as many farmers as possible to aid in the development of the rural economy.
  • Preparing reports for your superiors: Your branch manager will be requested to give reports on a variety of topics, including the farm loan accounts you are managing, the number of accounts that have been restructured, and the number of MUDRA loans disbursed, among other things. You must compile the reports as requested and submit them to your regional office within the specified timeframe.

Apart from the responsibilities listed above, one must also manage in-house workers and clerical staff. The Probationary Officer is also responsible for the running and operations of banks.
