Exam Brief

Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test—also referred to as UPTET—is an entrance test conducted by Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Board (UPBEB) at the state level to hire the best-fit aspirants for teacher posts. The teacher position has been divided into two categories: primary and upper primary teacher. The UPBEB is going to conduct the UPTET Paper-II on January 23, 2022

UPTET has two papers: Paper 1 and Paper 2; Paper-I is conducted for those who wish to become primary teachers, while the latter (i.e. Paper-II) is held for the upper primary teachers. UPBEB generally carries out the entrance test in the pen-and-paper mode, i.e., offline.  To know when the UPTET Paper 2 shall be conducted this year, please refer to the ‘Latest Update’ section on this page.

Exam Summary

UPTET is Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test. It is a state exam and conducted by the government of Uttar Pradesh. This exam is taken by aspirants who want to become a government school teacher in Uttar Pradesh. The UPTET Paper 2 exam is taken by a candidate who wants to teach classes 6 to 8. The exam is conducted in the offline (pen-paper) mode only. There are five parts in the question paper, namely Part l, Part ll, Part lll, Part lV, Part V. Part I is Child Development & Pedagogy, Part II is Mathematics and Science, Part III comprises Social Studies/ Social Science, Part IV has Language-I and Part V has Language II. The duration of the UPTET Paper 2 exam is 150 minutes.

In this paper, candidates have to first go through the Child Development & Pedagogy part, which is compulsory. Moving forward in the paper, candidates have to answer the Science & Mathematics OR Social Science section. Then comes Language I and Language II. Candidates need to attempt questions of Language-I if they have opted for English as Language-l only. And if they have opted for English as Language II, then they need to attempt questions of Language II only.

Latest Update (20.01.2022): As per the latest news, the UPTET is going to be conducted on January 23, 2022. Both Paper-I and Paper-II shall be conducted on the same date, in the offline mode. After reviewing the COVID-19 situation in the state, Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath ordered the exam-organising authorities to strictly follow the guidelines for UPTET at the exam centres.

Selection Process

To get selected for the UPTET paper 2 exam, the first and foremost thing that a candidate needs to do is to fill the application form.

The admit card will then be issued to the candidates. An individual can download the admit card for the UPTET paper 2 exam by providing the login credentials on the official website. The exam will be conducted in an offline mode. The duration of the paper is 150 minutes. There is no negative marking. For passing the exam, the candidate has to score more than 60 per cent. The UPTET score will be mentioned in the UPTET result. Each question is of 1 mark, and the passing mark is 90 out of 150.

Stages of Exam

UPTET paper 2 exam has only one stage. This exam is for the candidates who want to become eligible to teach the upper primary level students, i.e., class 6-8.

The UPTET paper 2 exam is taken by a candidate who wants to teach students of classes 6 to 8. In this exam, there are 150 questions, and one mark is rewarded for every correct answer. But there is no deduction of marks or negative marking if there is a wrong answer.

Child Development and Pedagogy is the compulsory part and is to be done by everyone who is attempting the UPTET exam. Language 1 is for candidates who have taken English as their first language. Here are some preparation tips that aspirants can adopt to score well.

  1. All the topics should be covered thoroughly. 
  2. 10-year papers should be solved to score well in the UPTET paper 2 exam..
  3. Time management should be kept in mind while studying/revising.
  4. While preparing, make sure to keep your mind free of worries and anxious thoughts.
  5. Light exercise, yoga can be done during the time of preparation to keep the body active. 

Exam Taking Strategy

Simply preparing well is not enough to score well in the examination, certain exam taking strategies should also be adhered to:

  1. A candidate should reach the examination hall on time and should not be late.
  2. Before starting to solve the questions, candidates should first go through the entire paper and do the easiest part first.
  3. Candidates should divide the given time for each section and plan accordingly. The entire question paper should be completed on time. As there is no negative marking, candidates should try to attempt every question.

Dos and Donts of Form Filling

Steps to fill the application form:- 

1st Step: Registration

  1. The official website of the exam conducting authority-http://updeled.gov.in/should be visited.
  2. Then the UPTET registration button should be clicked on.
  3. The registration button should be selected.
  4. All the instructions should be read carefully and the declaration should be ticked.
  5. Then the ‘apply here’ button should be clicked on.
  6. All details such as name, date of birth, mother’s name, father’s name, and email id should be filled in properly to register for the exam. 
  7. Then the declaration at the bottom of the page should be clicked on.

A number will be generated on successful registration.

2nd Step: Verification

  1. The registration number is to be entered which is on the next page to get an OTP via SMS or mail. 
  2. This way the verification will get completed.

 

3rd Step: Fill the application form

  1. All academic and exam details need to be given.
  2. The exam centre should be selected according to the preference.
  3. The ‘submit’ button should be clicked on after filling the application form.

 

4th Step: Pay the application fee

An application fee of INR 600 needs to be paid for UPTET Paper 2 on the payment window. The fee for SC/ST and PwD candidates is INR 400 and INR 200, respectively.

5th Step: Documents

A scanned photograph and signature are to be uploaded as per the specifications by the authority.

 

Do’s while filling the form of UPTET Paper 2:-

  1. Every step should be read properly before filling the form.
  2. Spellings and information filled in by the candidate should be checked by him or her properly before pressing ‘submit’.

III. All the necessary documents should be kept ready before filling the form for UPTET Paper 2. 

  1. Recent passport size photographs of good quality should be kept ready to upload.
  2. The signature should be clear and not overlapping on white paper. Candidates should be aware of how to upload the necessary documents.

 

Don’ts while filling the form of UPTET Paper 2:-

  1. Photographs that are to be uploaded should not have reflections.
  2. Signature that is to be uploaded should not be overlapped.

III. There should not be any spelling mistakes while filling the form.

  1. Application form should not be submitted after the date of submission, else it would not be accepted.

Candidates who belong to the general category (UR) should be more than or equal to 18 years and less than 35 years of age. There is age relaxation for reserved categories which is shown below:

Education Qualification

For the UPTET Paper-II exam, (Upper Primary Teacher) the following requirements are needed:

  • Domicile: For appearing in the UPTET Paper-II, a domicile certificate of Uttar Pradesh is needed. So, the residents of Uttar Pradesh are eligible to take the UPTET 2022 Paper-II exam. For the domicile, candidates should have passed their 12th grade in Uttar Pradesh. Or, candidates who are permanent residents of Uttar Pradesh are eligible.

 

Other eligibility criteria are:

  • Bachelor’s degree & B.T.C from a National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) approved institute OR
  • Bachelor’s degree with minimum 50% marks & B.Ed/ B.Ed Special Education from Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) OR
  • Intermediate (10+2) with minimum 50% marks & 4 year B.A/ B.S.C.Ed/ B.Ed from N.C.T.E./ U.G.C recognised institute OR
  • Intermediate (10+2) with minimum 50% marks & 4 year Degree (B.El.Ed) in Primary Education OR
  • Bachelor’s degree with minimum 45% & B.Ed degree
