Preparation Tips

GUJCET is a state level engineering entrance examination. Many students appear for the exam to apply to engineering courses (B.E./B.Tech. or B. Pharma./D. Pharma) within the state. To get qualified, aspirants have to score the minimum cut-off marks in the exam. The competition level is quite high for securing a seat in the top government colleges. Candidates can check a few preparation tips for GUJCET 2022 exam below:

  • Take Stock of the GUJCET Syllabus: This is the first step toward exam preparation. Candidates must be well aware of the syllabus to get an idea of all the topics that could be asked in the exam. Understanding the syllabus beforehand helps aspirants to plan the topics in advance and create a revision scheme for the same. Candidates can divide the syllabus as per their choice or preference and study accordingly.
  • Understand the Exam Pattern: After getting familiar with the syllabus, the next thing to know is the exam pattern. Candidates need to understand the exam pattern so that they can know the types of questions, exam duration, total number of questions, and marking scheme of the exam. It makes a candidate confident while attempting the question paper.
  • Make a Practical Timetable: Devote the right amount of time for studying each topic as per your strength. Target one topic at a time, and do not sit on one topic for long. Strategise your daily schedule around the topics of the three subjects. Keep taking notes of what you have studied to revisit the topics effortlessly later.
  • Refer Best GUJCET Preparation Books: As we know that the GUJCET syllabus covers topics from classes 11 and 12; students can study their school textbooks to clear their basic concepts. However, due to the highly competitive level of the exam, studying only school textbooks will not be enough. So candidates are advised to follow other preparation books to get a broader perspective on complex topics. This will ensure that candidates have an all-round exam preparation.
Some of the GUJCET preparation books are mentioned below.
Fundamentals of Physics- Halliday/ Resnick/ Walker Concepts Of Organic Chemistry- OP Tandon
Handbook of Mathematics- Amit Rastogi Mathematics Vol I , II, – RD Sharma
Concepts of Physics – HC Verma RC Mukherji for Physical Chemistry
GUJ-CET 15 Practice Sets Gujarat CET Engineering Solved Papers
  • Practise mock tests and previous years’ papers: After completing the syllabus, start practising mock tests and previous years’ papers. Solving mock tests will provide you with an exam-like environment, and also help you get familiar with the paper pattern. It helps in analysing your weak areas, and by working on them, you can improve the overall score in the final exam. Previous years’ papers can help you get an idea of the topics and types of questions asked in the exams previously.
  • Revision is the key to effective exam preparation:  Students should devote time to revise the topics they have studied. A proper revision plan helps students retain the topics during the exam. A specific time can be allotted daily for revisiting the topics studied on the same day.
  • Stay Healthy: Candidates must not overlook their health while preparing for the GUJCET exam. You should spend time on your hobbies like singing, dancing, painting, and swimming as per your interest. This would make you feel energetic and help in improving your mental health.

Exam Taking Strategy

GUJCET exam preparation also involves a precise exam strategy. Students need to pay attention while browsing through the question paper. A thorough review of the instructions mentioned in the question paper is necessary. After careful review of the question paper, candidates can first pick the questions they are confident of.

It is not advisable to sit and waste time on one question for long, if you do not know the answer, skip that question to attempt it in the end. It must be noted that the GUJCET exam has a negative marking scheme, so candidates should not attempt too many questions that they are not sure about.
