Haryana Police Constable Exam Eligibility Criteria

Age Criteria

The age of the applicants must be between 18 and 25 years. The above-mentioned higher age restriction will be relaxed only in the following circumstances:

  • Applicants from the scheduled caste (SC), backward classes (BC), and economically weaker section (EWS) categories would be allowed a 5-year age limit relaxation as per government instructions issued from time to time.

Education Qualification

Applicants must meet the following educational requirements to be considered for the Haryana Police Constable position:

  • For all categories, the applicant must have completed 10+2 or its equivalent from a recognised educational board/institution.
  • The candidate must have completed matriculation with Hindi or Sanskrit as one of the subjects, or have completed higher education.

Number of Attempts

An applicant can only take six attempts till they reach the maximum age limit.

Language Proficiency

The exam can be given in two languages: Hindi and English (bilingual). However, there is an exception when it comes to testing English language skills. All the sections which are meant to test English language skills must be answered in English only.

The HSSC will hire talented applicants based on the following stages:

Stage 1: Knowledge Test (CBT)

In the first stage, the Board administered a written Computer Based Test. The weightage of the written test is 80 marks with an exam duration of one hour and 30 minutes. The highlights of CBT and exam pattern are explained below:

  • Exam Medium: The examination was multilingual, meaning it was in Hindi and English (except in the sections where English Knowledge will be tested).
  • Question Type: Only objective-type questions were asked in the exam.
  • Negative Marks: There will be no deductions for incorrect responses.

Stage 2: Physical Screening Test

Aspirants who qualify for the knowledge test, equal to seven times the number of openings in each category, will be declared qualified. 

Those who pass the Knowledge Test will be subject to a Physical Screening Test, determining their physical fitness and endurance. applicants must meet the following requirements to ace the physical screening test under Haryana Police Constable recruitment.

  • Based on the candidate’s category, they are needed to cover the running distance within the specified time. 
  • No marks will be awarded for the screening test, as it will just serve as a qualification.
  • It is the candidate’s responsibility to ensure that they are medically fit to take this test.
  • Applicants who fail to meet the requirements for the Physical Screening Test would be eliminated from the selection process.
  • The Haryana Staff Selection Commission will prepare the results of the physical screening test and release the same on its official website.
  • Applicants who meet the requirements for this exam will be subject to a Physical Measurement Test which is the third stage of the examination.

Stage 3: Physical Measurement Test

The third stage of the Haryana Police Constable recruiting process is the Physical Measurement Test (PMT). The Physical Measurement Test is a test that the board administers to find out whether a candidate’s physical measurements are up to par with its requirements.

The board will measure the applicants’ chests, heights, and other physical characteristics; if any applicants don’t meet the requirements, they will be disqualified from consideration. applicants must meet different physical requirements, this goes for both male and female applicants. 

Stage 4: Additional Weightage (10%)

Only those applicants who have passed all of the previous rounds are eligible for this phase, including document verification such as educational certificates. For the final selection of the Haryana Police Constable post, this additional selection procedure will account for 10% of the total marks.

Stage 5: Miscellaneous Weightage (10%)

  • If neither the applicant nor anyone in the applicant’s family is a Haryana Government Police Department member, five marks will be awarded.
  • Five marks will be awarded if a candidate is a:
    • Widow.
    • The first or second kid and his father died before reaching the age of 42.
    • The applicant’s first or second kid and his father died before he turned 15 years old.
  • The applicant belongs to a Haryana tribe (Vimukt Jatis and Tapriwas Jatis) or a Nomadic tribe (Vimukt Jatis and Tapriwas Jatis) that is not a Scheduled Caste nor a Backward Class; five marks will be awarded.
  • Experience as an ad hoc or contract employee will be given a maximum of eight marks. For each year on the same or a higher post in any Department, Board, Corporation, Company, Statutory Body, Commission, or Authority of the Government of Haryana, a one-half (=0.5) mark is given. For any time shorter than six months, no marks will be awarded:
  • The claim for a reservation benefit and/or a relaxation, if applicable, as well as any necessary certificates.

Document Verification 

The board will conduct a document verification round during scrutiny, and applicants must present the following items.

  • Certificate of Academic Qualification
  • Photographs of a scanned copy 
  • Caste Certificate such as OC/SC/ST/OBC etc.
