According to every top student, reading and understanding NCERT textbooks is one of the most effective ways to prepare for the KVPY exam. The test evaluates students’ basic understanding of math and scientific underpinnings. As a result, it is critical to grasp all concepts completely and thoroughly. For 20% of the time, the KVPY exam is easy, 60% of the time it is moderate, and 20% of the time, it is challenging.
Before moving on to the more challenging topics, students should start with easy and moderate questions. This simple method will help you respond effectively to a range of queries. In addition, students must prepare for interviews. Students are interviewed by a panel of experts composed of highly qualified academics and scientists. The interview can last anything from 45 minutes to an hour. The panel will address general science topics and practical demonstrations of mirrors, magnetism, and other theories. Interviewers just need to be convinced that students are serious about pursuing a career in research.
The KVPY 2021 exam is scheduled to take place on January 9, 2022, which is postponed recently until further notice. So, in the final minutes before the exam, you must remain focused and make effective use of your time. All of your efforts will be for nought if you don’t. Keeping this in mind, we’ve compiled a list of key points for KVPY to help you pass the exam and earn a good grade.
1. Focus on your weak points: At this time, you should focus on your weak spots, which are the chapters and concepts that are causing you problems, especially those that are important for the exam. It’s important to work on your weak spots, but don’t put too much pressure on yourself to do so. If you are focused, you can easily work on them.
2. Don’t choose new topics: One of the most crucial last-minute KVPY guidelines is to avoid picking or touching any new topic. New topics require additional time to complete, which you do not have at this time. Even if you devote time to the subject, if you cannot grasp the concept, your confidence will suffer. Go through the things you’ve already covered and make sure you understand them.
3. Create a sound revision strategy: Every minute of the final days leading up to the exam is crucial. As a result, you should devise and implement an effective revision process. Make a schedule – allot time to each subject and spend a little more time on your weak subjects or topics. Extra attention must be paid to the formulae, their derivations, equations, and so on. If you revise these areas thoroughly, you will have an advantage over other exam applicants.
4. Pick important questions: In the last few minutes of your KVPY preparation, you won’t be able to solve or even go over all of the problems you’ve practised for each subject. You can achieve this by answering crucial and challenging questions from the chapters you’ve already read. Begin with the most crucial chapters, then move on to the more challenging chapters and all other chapters.
5. Attempt KVPY mock tests & KVPY previous year papers: Take a few KVPY practise tests and work through KVPY previous year papers. These will help you prepare for the actual exam. Analysing your performance in these tests can also assist you in identifying your flaws and errors. You can then improve on them so that you don’t make the same mistakes in the exam.
6. Use flowcharts and flashcards for revision: It is neither practicable nor practical to go over all chapters. As a result, review your notes, flowcharts, and flashcards. It will save a significant amount of time—additionally, this method aids in improved memorisation.
7. Stay positive: Maintain an optimistic attitude and remember that you prepared well for your exam. However, based on converting your knowledge into exam marks, you must remain confident and focused. Allow no negative to stand in the way of achieving your goal. You will undoubtedly perform well in the exam.
Time management is crucial when it comes to getting good scores. Organise your schedule such that each subject gets the same amount of time. Pay special attention to the subjects where you are lacking.
Throughout the examination, the time management method is used. Always begin by completing the section of the question paper with which you are most familiar. It is necessary to study as much as possible, covering as much of the syllabus as feasible. Make sure you’re familiar with the themes. Learn how to put them to work for you. What you are required to learn at +2 level is drastically different from what you were previously required to study. Spend some time investigating the possibility of the fellowship as well. You need to know why you want it.
Make it a habit to prepare for the KVPY for at least two 2-hour sessions each day. The first slot is for physics and math, while the second is for chemistry and biology. Make biology a priority if you’re a PCM student. It will earn you a lot of points. Start honing your concepts in 9th and 10th grade if you’re a PCB student. Do some algebra and trigonometry starting in 11th grade. Experiment with coordinate geometry to create straight lines and circles.
Now is the time to go into exam mode. Solve the papers from the previous year. You can take a practice test on the KVPY website and familiarise yourself with the buttons and calculator. Learn about the feature of question marking as well. In a nutshell, be aware of all you have at your disposal. It is not a good idea to experiment in the exam room. Print your hall ticket after taking a photo of it. Keep in mind that you should arrive at least 1.5 hours before the exam begins. You should enlist the help of a guardian for the duration of your stay and journey. Instead of wasting your study time, this is the finest thing to do. Do not study on the day of the exam. Don’t take any risks. Brush up on what you’ve previously learned and unwind.
The difficulty level of questions asked in KVPY is bit less when compared to exams Like JEE-Advanced or NEET. It puts several intertwined ideas to the test. The majority of JEE questions test problem-solving abilities, whereas the NEET tests speed and memory. As a result, merely planning for these events will not be enough. The questions are similar, but the method is not. Practice time management and familiarise yourself with the KVPY question structure. You should complete the parts in the sequence listed below.
Let’s look at the KVPY study suggestions, essential plans, and tactics for each subject.
Physics:
As physics is a subject that necessitates logical reasoning, you must fully comprehend all of the essential principles. Always double-check that your main principles are understood. You can solve any difficulty if you have a thorough comprehension of the ideas.
Furthermore, because Physics and Mathematics are intertwined, you must utilise mathematical formulas to solve Physics problems. As many conceptual issues as possible should be practised. Theoretical Physics-related problems are commonly asked in KVPY. As a result, make sure you thoroughly prepare for those queries.
Mathematics:
Remember the mantra when it comes to mathematics: practice, practise, practise! To gain confidence in the subject, solve as many mathematical questions as you can. Mathematics is incomplete without formulas. As a result, you must have all of the key formulas on the tip of your tongue. Theorems and findings are important in addition to formulas. Takedown all of the key axioms, theorems, and principles and make a note of them.
Visualisation is also required in mathematics, as shown in 3D vectors, graphs, and curves. So, in addition to answering questions, practise visualising shapes. KVPY will also ask some questions based on IQ. As a result, be ready for that as well.
Chemistry:
Inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, and physical chemistry are the three divisions of chemistry. You must give each of them equal weight. Revision is crucial in Organic Chemistry. Begin with the themes and develop a list of all the significant chemical reactions that pertain to that topic. After that, try your hand at some practise questions.
Inorganic Chemistry necessitates a great deal of memorisation. So, choose this item first thing in the morning, when your brain is most active, and you can readily memorise it.
NCERT Books will be your best buddy for Inorganics. Write a comprehensive review of all of the subjects and concepts, and make a list of them. Physical Chemistry necessitates problem-solving. As a result, keep all of the crucial formulas in mind and practice many questions on each topic. Again, looking at NCERT books is your best bet.
Biology:
You must concentrate on the diagrams and labels in Biology. For KVPY Biology, NCERT books are highly reliable. So don’t waste time looking through other reference books. Make a list of all of the key elements and go through them again and again. Also, make sure you have flow charts and shortcuts to master crucial concepts in your notes. In Biology, multiple-choice questions are essential. As a result, practise as many MCQs as possible.

The program’s purpose is to identify students with research talents and aptitudes, aid them in realising their academic potential, encourage them to pursue science research jobs, and ensure that the country develops the best scientific brains for research and development.
Students are chosen among grades XI through 1st year of any undergraduate programme in Basic Sciences, such as B.Sc./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc./M.S. in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, who have demonstrated an aptitude for scientific research. At IISc, special groups/committees are formed to screen applications and conduct aptitude tests at various locations around the country. Shortlisted students are invited to an interview, which is the final stage of the selection process, based on their performance on the aptitude exam. Both the aptitude exam and the interview scores are taken into account when deciding on a fellowship.
After 12th grade, the most difficult decision for each student is deciding on a suitable career route. When it comes to picking a professional route, students are sometimes torn between following the herd and enrolling in the most popular courses, choosing a degree based on what their parents require, or just following their friends and choosing that particular career path. The vast majority of students select courses without first considering their strengths, weaknesses, and interests. An aspirant candidate can construct a list of the points to remember to pass the KVPY exam.
Parents must realise that not every child is cut out to be a doctor, engineer, or accountant. They should not compel a student to follow a popular career route just because it is popular. Parents may seek the advice of a career consultant, who may assist students in identifying their strengths and recommending relevant career possibilities. The KVPY scholarship exam is one of India’s most challenging and competitive exams. They are put under mental and physical hardship as they handle and manage their studies for both school and the numerous competition assessments.
Dealing with anxiety and pressure is challenging. Some parents become apprehensive when expectations of their children rise. It causes the child to become stressed and puts the student’s mind under even more strain. Parents should never do something like that to their children.
