IB ACIO 2022: The applicants who are interested in the position of IB ACIO Grade-II/Executive posts in the Intelligence Bureau, can apply for the same.  Intelligence Officer is a General Central Service, Group ‘C’ (Non-gazetted, Non-ministerial) post and eligible candidates for this post are selected through IB ACIO examination conducted by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). Clearing this exam is the first step to becoming a spy or secret agent in India.

Selection Process

IB ACIO Exam selection process consists of Tier I, II, and Interview.

Stages of Exam

IB ACIO Exam Pattern 2022 consists of three stages: Tier I, II, and Interview. Tier I is an objective-type exam that contains questions from five sections. Tier-II is a descriptive model exam that is out of a total of 50 marks. The Interview round is out of 100 marks in total. IB ACIO exam pattern gives an idea about the overall structure and model of the exam. By looking at the exam pattern, candidates can get details such as total marks, marking scheme, duration of the test, and weightage of each section. IB ACIO exam pattern is set by the Intelligence Bureau which is under the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Applicants who clear Tier 1 exam, will be eligible to appear for the Tier 2 exam. IB ACIO Tier 2 exam is a descriptive test and to qualify in the Tier 2 exam, candidates must score at least 33% marks). Based on the performance of the aspirant in Tier 1 and Tier 2 exams, MHA will call them for the final round of selection - the Interview Round.

IB ACIO Interview

From the candidates who qualify in Tier 1 and Tier 2 exams, those who clear the cut off set by MHA will be invited to attend the interview round. The interview is out of a maximum of 100 marks. There is no fixed time duration for the interview. However, generally, it ranges from 20 minutes to 1 hour in length per candidate.

Part-I consists of filling up the personal, educational, and other details while Part-II consists of online payment of application fee. 5th Step: Upload the photograph and signature in a single file as per the formatting and size prescriptions. Note: The scanned copy of the passport size colour photograph and signature must be in the same jpg/jpeg file of size not exceeding 50kb.

7th Step: Save all the details that you entered and click on the option for fee payment. Candidates can choose between either online (Debit/Credit/Net Banking) or Offline (Bank Challan) modes to pay their application fee.

The candidate applying for IB ACIO Grade 2 should be at least 18 years old. The maximum age limit of applicants is 27 years. Age relaxation is available for the reserved category candidates. 

The age relaxation available for SC/ST or OBC candidates is given in the table below. For the respective categories, the upper age is relatable to certain relations. Check the figures in the table that follows.

The Intelligence Bureau of the Ministry of Home Affairs will release the IB ACIO Admit Card and City Intimation details for the Tier 1 exam on the official website-mha.gov.in two-three weeks before the exam date. The IB ACIO In Hand Salary to a newly appointed candidate depends on the post and city where the candidate is posted. After the 7th Pay Commission, the salary has been revised and increased significantly. ACIO II is placed at Level 7 of the new pay matrix. The basic components of the salary are as described below:
