Write a brief note on different types of immunities?

Immunity is a state of the body to resist harmful microorganisms, the ability to defend against foreign agents. Immunity is of two types: Innate Immunity and Acquired Immunity.

INNATE IMMUNITY: This type of immunity is present from birth. This includes certain barriers and defense mechanisms that keep foreign particles out of the body. This system works with natural killer cells, intact skin, and neutrophils, etc.

ACQUIRED IMMUNITY: This type of immunity is acquired over time. The body can adapt itself and fight infections, and diseases. It is specific and mediated by antibodies or lymphocytes which make the antigen harmless. Acquired immunity is further divided into two types of immunity: Active Immunity and Passive Immunity.

Active Immunity: Active immunity happens when your immune system is triggered to produce antibodies to fight against the disease. In the case of the acquired or adaptive immune system, the body remembers the pathogens it has encountered in the past. This is a direct result of the active immune system. Active immunity may protect us from a disease for a lifetime.

Passive Immunity: Passive immunity is when you’re given antibodies as opposed to producing them on your own. Passive immunity develops immediately, and our body could begin its attack on the pathogen right away. Passive immunity is more short-term.
