i-f Winnowing is an agricultural method developed by ancient cultures for separating grain from chaff with the help of wind. ii-b The unwanted plants that grow in-between crops are called weeds. The process of removal of such unwanted plants is called weeding. The weeds compete with the actual crop for space, nutrients, light and water. Weeds can be removed by using chemicals like 2,4-D. iii-e Rabi crops are those that are sown in the months of October-November and harvested in the month March-April. The Rabi crops are also called as winter crops. Examples are wheat, gram, pea, etc. Wheat cannot be grown in rainy season because wheat crop cannot tolerate too much water. iv-a India is a vast country, where the climatic conditions like temperature, humidity and rainfall vary from one region to another. Kharif crops are those that are sown in the months of June-July and harvested in September-October every year. The Kharif crops also called as rainy crops. Examples are paddy, groundnut, cotton, millets, etc. v-c Threshing is the process of separation of grain from the stalk on which it develops and from the chaff or unit that covers it. Traditionally it is done by striking harvested crop against a hard surface or by beating the harvested crop with a solid stick. Threshing is also carried out with the help of a machine called combine. vi-d Honey is a sweet liquid made by bees (insect) using the nectar from flowers.
