A food chain is a chain that shows how living things depend on one another for food. It is a link in which one organism consumes the other organism for its survival. Every food chain starts with the plants as they are producers.

Animals that live in the forest are called wild animals, animals that are tamed by humans for their uses are called domestic animals, and those animals that are kept at home for our entertainment are called pet animals. Pets must be treated with lots of love and care as they depend on us for their needs. Dogs and cats are some examples of pet animals.

Herbivores are animals that eat only plants and plant products. Some herbivores use their front teeth to nibble on nuts, fruits and seeds. This is called gnawing. Rabbits and squirrels are animals that gnaw their food.
