Compare the two diagrams given below. Name the structures in an animal cell that can be seen with the electron microscope but not with the light microscope.

The two diagrams of animal cells are given in which one of the pictures is seen under a light microscope and the other is obtained by using an electron microscope. Due to the low resolution of the light microscope, smaller organelles can not be observed under this. The structures such as the nucleus, cytoplasm, Golgi bodies and cell membrane are seen under the light microscope. Mitochondria are also visible but their parts are invisible. The electron microscope has the high magnification, hence, ribosomes, endoplasmic reticulum, lysosomes and centrioles are observed by using this. Rough and smooth endoplasmic reticulum can be differentiated through electron microscope. Double layered nuclear membrane and nuclear pores are also seen under this. Microvilli in certain animal cells are also found under the electron microscope.
