The heart is the circulatory organ present in humans, which pumps blood to all parts of the body with the help of blood vessels. The series of blood vessels present in our body are arteries, veins, and capillaries. The heart is divided into the right and left sides by the septum. The heart has four chambers, two small upper chambers called atria and two larger lower chambers called ventricles. The right atrium receives deoxygenated blood from all parts of the body and pumps it to the right ventricle. The collected carbon dioxide-rich blood is then pumped to the lungs for oxygenation. In the lungs, the exchange of gases takes place and oxygenated blood is sent back to the left atrium. It pumps it to the left ventricle, which in turn pumps off the oxygenated blood to all parts of the body through arteries. The valves regulate the flow of blood in a single direction and prevent the backflow of the blood.
