Democracy is a form of government where people chose representatives who govern them. Most liberal nations adopt democracy as a form of government.

Some measures can be taken to spread the awareness about democracy. History of democratic governments should be introduced in schools. References to the earliest democracy in Athens should be taught. Public participation in democracy is extremely necessary.

People should be encouraged to be a part of political parties, pressure groups and voice their opinions. Constitutional values should be inculcated to all citizens. Democracy as a principle can be applied to any sphere of life and not only in governance.

In any decision-making, every person should have a say so that decision is taken collectively. In schools, students should be encouraged to ask questions and teachers should have democratic temperament. In these ways the merits of democracy can be conveyed.
