It is also known as air layering. In this technique a branch of a flowering and fruiting plant is wonded carefully. It is a vegetative method of plant propagation which involves the rooting of aerial stems while attached to the parent plant.

Bulbil, also spelled bulbel, is a botany term for a small secondary bulb that grows in the angle between a leaf and stem or in the position of flowers on some plants. When full-grown, bulbils are considered offsets and are extracted and planted to produce new plants.

Layering is a technique in which a plant's stem is bent and coated in dirt. Young stems that bend easily without injuring themselves are preferred. This is how Jasmine and Bougainvillea (paper flower) are propagated.
