Literature: During the Rajput Age, kings patronised scholars and education. Numerous literary works were composed in Sanskrit, Prakrit, Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, etc.

The epic ‘Shishupalvadha was written by the great Sanskrit poet Magh. The killing of Shishupal by Sri Krishna was described by him. ‘Naishadacharitra’ was written by Shriharsh.

The story of Nal and Damyanti was described in this epic. Even songs by Radha and other ‘Gopis’, in which Lord Krishna was praised, were composed in a lyrical manner. Poets also composed the biography and achievements. ‘Kumarpal Charita’ was written by Hemchandracharya.

It was based on the life of the Solanki King of Gujarat Kumarpal. Hemchandracharya also wrote a Grammar book ‘Siddhem Shabdhanushashan’.

Many plays were also written during that time.‘Uttarramcharita’ was written by Bhavbhuti. ‘Hitopdesh’ was composed by Pandit Narayana.

Another important literary works during this time were Vishakhadatta's Mudrarakshasha, Kalhar's Rajtarangini, Bilhan's Vikramakadev Chant, Vikramakadev Chant's Kathasaritsagar, Chandbardai's Prithviraj Raso.

Art: The Rajput style of paintings was developed in the regions of Mewar, Jodhpur, Kishangarh, Kota, Bikaner. Mostly court scenes and romantic scenes were painted. The animals like elephants and camels used by the rulers are common motifs. Blue and green colors dominated these paintings.
