The Amazon Basin is located on the continent of South America and is covered by nine countries: Brazil, Bolivia, Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname, and French Guiana. Brazil alone accounts for $60 %$ of the forest. If seen globally, it covers around $1 %$ of the total surface of the earth and is home to about $10 %$ of wildlife species, including endangered flora and fauna. It also supports the tribal population.

Mining activities create several environmental issues like erosion, deforestation, loss of habitation, noise pollution, soil pollution, contamination of groundwater and air pollution. Development should never compromise with nature and its resources. Yes, the Brazilian government should therefore discourage mining in the Amazon Basin.
