It can be observed that Belgian politicians chose a distinct path that is different from Sri Lanka in dealing with diversity. They acknowledged the existence of regional disparities and cultural diversity. Contrary to the Sri Lankan example, where the majoritarian government ignored the cries of linguistic minorities, the Belgian Constitution resorted to a more complex yet accommodative solution. The Constitution prescribes that the number of Dutch and French-speaking ministers shall be equal in the central government.

In the case of India, the number of languages and their dialects are so vast it is impossible to achieve a similar solution. However, to promote equality, the Indian Constitution had also resorted to similar reservations of seats in Panchayati Raj, legislative assemblies, and in parliament to women, religious, linguistic, and caste minorities. Thus, the Indian model is close to the Belgian model in accommodating differences in society through constitutional provisions.
