Bandanna, an English word that originated from the word bandhana, which means 'tying' in the Hindi language. The tie and dye technique or 'bandhani' is followed in India even today. These works are famous from Rajasthan and Gujarat. Bandanna today in English means a brightly coloured scarf for the neck or head. This is associated with the bright colours that are used in the tie and dye technique.

Agarias are a community of people who were earlier known for their iron smelting skills. All the family members were involved in the act of producing iron. The skill was handed from generation to generation. Due to famines in the 19 th century, they abandoned their villages and skills in search of work and food.
