\nTHE BRAIN: \nThe brain is the central and the most complex organ of the central nervous system that acts as the command and control system for all the activities occurring in our body. It is located inside the cranium of the skull. The brain is covered by three membranes present inside the cranial region, which are called meninges. The outermost meningeal layer is called the dura mater. The middle membrane is called the arachnoid layer and the innermost membrane is called the pia mater.

\n
The human brain is divided into three primary parts, such as forebrain, midbrain and hindbrain.
\n\n
\n\t
Forebrain: The forebrain is the anterior and the largest part of the human brain, which consists of olfactory lobes, cerebrum (consists of left and right cerebral hemisphere), and diencephalon.
\n\t
Midbrain: The midbrain is located between the thalamus and hypothalamus of the forebrain and the pons Varolii of the hindbrain.
\n\t
Hindbrain: It is the posterior part of the brain that consists of three primary parts such as pons, cerebellum, and medulla oblongata.

\n\n
\n
Functions of the brain:
\n\n
\n\t
It controls voluntary movements and maintains the balance of the body.
\n\t
It controls the functioning of the vital involuntary organs like heart, kidneys, lungs, liver, etc.
\n\t
It controls hunger, thirst, temperature, and circadian rhythms of the body.
\n\t
It processes information like vision, hearing, speech, memory, intelligence, vision, etc.
\n\t
It also controls the endocrine functions of our body to release hormones.
\n
\n
\n\n
\n
SPINAL CORD: \nIt is the posterior part of the CNS that runs mid-dorsally into the neural canal of the vertebral column. It is formed of two types of tissue, such as white matter and grey matter.
\n\n
Functions of the spinal cord:
\n\n
\n\t
It conducts impulses to and from the brain.
\n\t
It controls most of the reflex actions.
