Modern humans have an average height of about 170 centimetres.

The eye sockets are square rather than round.

The vertical face is due to the jaws that are short.

These are the only species to have a protruding chin.

The limb bones are thinner than earlier human species. This indicates that there is a reduction in muscle size from earlier humans.

Legs are relatively long compared with the arms.

Finger and toe bones are straight.

The pelvis is narrow.
