What does a neutral substance have?

Sometimes, acidic or alkaline solutions need to be neutralised. Describe how you could neutralise an acidic solution and how would you know that neutralisation has happened.

What colour would universal indicator change to if added to a neutral solution.

The simple experiment shown in the figure could be changed by using a measuring cylinder to add the alkali, and using the colour change of the indicator to estimate . How could you show the way that the changes as you neutralise the acid with an alkali?
