Simpson's diversity index is used to find the biodiversity of a habitat. It takes into account the number of species in the area of study and the relative abundance of the number of individuals of a species. Given that the diversity of Shore A is 0.80 and the diversity of Shore B is 0.73. The value of this index varies from -1 to +1. It can be used to compare the diversity of two areas. More the value of D more will be the diversity. Thus, we can say that Shore A is more rich in terms of biodiversity in comparison to Shore B.
