Give two activities to demonstrate the principle of electromagnetic induction.

One of the most important discoveries of Michael Faraday is inducing current with the help of magnetic force. In other words, we can say that Faraday produced electricity from magnetism, a phenomenon called electromagnetic induction.
Faraday's principle of electromagnetic induction states that the emf induced in a loop by changing the magnetic flux is equal to the rate of change of the magnetic flux linked the loop. The magnetic flux linked with a coil of wire can be changed by moving a bar magnet in and out of the coil or change the current in the coil kept adjacent to it.

The activities demonstrating the principle of electromagnetic induction is as under:

Activity $1$ :

Take a coil and connect it with a galvanometer. Ensure that the coil forms a closed circuit. Now take a bar magnet and push it towards the coil. We will observe that there is momentary deflection in the galvanometer. This deflection stays till there is motion in the bar magnet. Once the bar magnet is stationary, there is no reading in the galvanometer. Hence, the induced emf exists only till there is change in the magnetic flux linked with the coil.

Activity $2$ :

Take a coil and connect it with a galvanometer. This coil should form a closed circuit. Now take another coil which is closed and connected to a battery. Place the second coil close to the first coil in which the galvanometer is connected. Now, switch on the battery in the second coil. We will observe that there is momentary deflection in the galvanometer. This is because when the battery is switched on there is change in the magnitude of current which changes the magnetic flux linked with the second coil and hence changes the magnetic flux linked with the first coil thereby inducing current in the first coil.

These activities thus demonstrates the phenomenon of electromagnetic induction. The working of electric generator and electric transformer are examples of the use of electromagnetic induction.
