Illustrate with suitable examples the relationship that exists between pressure groups, political parties and movements.

Pressure groups, movements and political parties have the same goal of bettering society, but their objective is different from one another. Although the main aim of political parties is to head the government, they are often influenced by the voices of the people through the political parties or the movements. Therefore, there exists a strong relationship between political parties, pressure groups and movements such as:

(i) There have been cases where pressure groups or movements are either led or formed by leaders of political parties. For, e.g. students' organisations in India are often formed by leaders of a political party.
(ii) Sometimes, political parties are created out of movements. For, e.g. Asom Gana Parishad, a political party in Assam, was created after the Assam Andolan.
(iii) Political parties, pressure groups and movements often seem to be in opposition to each other, but they are in a state of constant dialogue and negotiations.
