The causes of the Silesian weavers' uprising can be described as follows:

Weavers in Silesia led several revolts against contractors who supplied raw materials. The contractors also gave raw materials for finished textiles but reduced their payments as a result of this the weavers rose in rebellion.

According to Wilhelm Wolff, weaver's reached the house of the contractor and demanded higher compensation. The contractors threatened the weavers, in return, the weavers destroyed the houses of the contractors. The weavers attacked storehouses, in response, the contractor fled from the region. However, the contractor returned with the army and shot eleven weavers dead.
