A tsunami is a series of huge waves that can rise up to a height of 100 feet and travels at a very high speed of about 700 km / hr that hits the coastal areas. The huge force with which they strike on land can destroy everything that comes in the way such as humans, buildings, plants and animals. A tsunami can be caused by an earthquake or volcanic eruption under the sea.

A volcano is an opening on the crust of the earth that allows hot, molten rock, ash and gases to escape from below the surface. There is hot molten rock, called magma present deep under the earth's surface. It rises and collects in a chamber and gradually builds up pressure. The pressure inside it causes the magma to move up and erupt out. The magma that comes out in a volcanic eruption is called lava.
