Batteries are portable energy sources that may generate electric current from an ingredient known as an electrolyte. Wet cell and dry cell batteries are the two types of batteries that are typically available in the market.

A well cell battery generates power from a pair of electrodes and a liquid electrolyte solution. These are comprised of lead plates in a solution of sulphuric acid, hence referred as lead acid batteries. A dry cell uses a paste electrolyte, with only enough moisture to allow the current to flow.

A wet cell battery must be dealt with constant care to avoid acid spills. On the other hand, since no acid fumes comes out from dry cells, and furthermore there is no threat of leaking or spilled acid, it is more convenient to use dry cell batteries over the car batteries containing wet cells.
