1 - E Forests provide us with many useful products such as timber, firewood, honey, fruits, sealing wax (lac), gum, natural rubber, fodder and wood for making paper. 2 - A The ground surface of the forest is known as the forest floor. It appears dark and is spongy because of the presence of humus. 3 - D The organisms which derive their food from the dead and decaying animals/plants are called saprotrophs (or saprophytes). Bacteria, Mushrooms and Yeast are some common saprotrophs. 4 - B Animals disperse seeds of certain plants through their droppings. Thus seeds get dispersed and in due course germinate to form plants of the same type. 5 - C Forests help in replenishing groundwater through seepage of rainwater, thus help in maintaining the water table.
