1-C Hummingbirds feed on the nectar of the flowers using their tongue that is very long, and when retracted, they coil up inside the birds’ heads, around their skulls and eyes. These birds obtain nectar by the process of sucking. 2-A The buccal cavity is the first cavity of the alimentary canal which includes teeth, tongue, and palate. The buccal cavity helps to take the food inside by the process of ingestion. The bolus is formed by the mastication of food in this cavity. 3-D The large intestine is present between the small intestine and rectum. This part of the digestive system plays the vital function of converting food into faeces by absorbing essential minerals and salts produced by gut bacteria and reclaiming water from faeces. 4-E Grass eating animals are ruminant animals. These animals have a four-chambered stomach, called the ruminant stomach. The four chambers of the ruminant stomach are the reticulum, rumen, omasum, and abomasum. The rumen serves as a large fermentation chamber in which bacteria and other microorganisms reside. 5-B Contractile vacuoles are excretory and osmoregulatory structures seen in protozoan animals. The function of the contractile vacuole is to pump water out of the cell to regulate osmotic pressure. It also participates in exocytosis to eliminate undigested food in these microscopic organisms.
