Aishwarya&rsquo;s mother was very upset with the pigeons in her balcony. She was cursing them while cleaning the balcony. Aishwarya said, &ldquo;If we encroach their homes, they will encroach ours.&rdquo; What did she mean by saying this? Should you agree with her?

Accepted Answer

All species have a role to play to maintain ecological diversity. Pigeons are prey animals mostly food for hawks, foxes, etc. They are omnivores which feed on seeds and insects and help control insect populations. The seeds that they eat can be excreted in other areas, so they are also agents of seed dispersal. The absence of pigeons would cause a spike in the thistle population. The thistles would maybe begin to overgrow and crowd out other plants perhaps plants that other species depend on for survival. Ultimately, if we harm pigeons or any other bird species, spontaneously we are being harmed by nature.
