Private companies also carry out surveys to know more about their prospective buyers. A toy company may create a questionnaire and ask young children at schools and parks to select their preferences.

These answers will then be evaluated by the company and new products will be launched according to the response.

A historian can know about the education status, level of employment of people in different eras from these surveys.
