It is vested with the absolute responsibility to make decisions and laws pertaining to elections. The police and paramilitary forces also have been employed in the polling booths of all constituencies on election day to ensure that no supporters of any party or member coerce people or intimidate them to cast votes forcefully to any party. The issues of booth capturing and bogus voting also are kept a consistent check upon during the election day via preparation and revision of electoral rolls and also via the help of police forces.

The notion of repoll is one predominant measure that aid in conducting elections free from money and muscle power. It refers to the power of the Election Commission to order for repoll in circumstances of booth capturing, coercing, or bogus voting.
