The term disease refers to a disorder in the structure or function of any organ or part of the body with a specific cause and symptoms. The diseases can be infectious and non-infectious. Infectious diseases are caused by biological agents such as bacteria, viruses, protozoans, etc. The diseases caused by infectious agents are communicable that can be transferred from one person to another by contact.

Non-infectious diseases are not known to be caused by infectious agents and pathogens. These can be caused by unhygienic conditions, malnutrition, etc. For example, some cancers are caused by genetic abnormalities. Obesity can be caused by excessive weight and lack of exercise. The non-infectious diseases are mostly non-communicable and can not spread by contact. So, all diseases do not spread to people coming in contact with a sick person.
