This process can be executed by comparing the characters among the organisms.

Key can be characterized as taxonomical aid. It is used for the identification of plants and animals based on similarities and dissimilarities. Keys are generally analytical. Keys that are based on the contrasting characters present in a pair are called a couplet. Separate taxonomic keys are required for each taxonomic category including family, genus, and species for identification purposes.
