When we see an onion peel under the microscope we can see some brick-shaped cells. Each cell has a darkly stained cell wall, a centrally placed vacuole and a thin layer of cytoplasm. In the cytoplasm, a small darkly stained part is present which is the nucleus of the cell. The cell membrane which is not so prominent is attached to the cell wall.
