From the given figure, the figure is fully covered with 28 full squares, 8 more than half filled squares and 6 half-filled squares. ∴ Area covered by full squares = 28 × 1 sq . cm = 28 sq . cm . Area covered by more than half-filled squares = 8 × 1 = 8 sq . cm Area covered by half-filled squares = 6 × 1 2 = 3 sq . cm Total area = Area covered by full squares + Area covered by more than half-filled squares + Area covered by half-filled squares = 28 + 8 + 3 = 39 sq . cm
